New Chief Nursing Officer Appointed at VCU Health Tappahannock Hospital: A Nursing Professional’s Rise to Leadership

VCU Health Tappahannock Hospital names new Chief Nursing Officer

L’Andrea McLaughlin, RN, DNP, CMSRN, CSSLGB, has been appointed as the chief nursing officer (CNO) for VCU Health Tappahannock Hospital following a nationwide search. With over 20 years of nursing experience, McLaughlin began her career at the bedside and advanced to nursing leadership. She has worked in various clinical settings including correctional facilities, emergency medicine, medicine-surgery progressive care and ambulatory care. In addition to her clinical work, McLaughlin has been teaching healthcare students as a full-time faculty member at Brightpoint Community College and Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Nursing.

McLaughlin has been serving as the interim CNO for Tappahannock Hospital since January 2024 and officially assumed the position on April 28. She is thrilled to join the hospital’s leadership team and represent the nursing workforce and interprofessional team that delivers high-quality care to patients and the community. With her wealth of experience and dedication to nursing, McLaughlin is well-equipped to lead the nursing department at VCU Health Tappahannock Hospital.
