New England offers top destinations for July travel

New England offers a plethora of summer excursions, and two local destinations have made it to the list of the best places to visit worldwide in July according to Travel + Leisure. The Newport Harbor Island Resort, which underwent a $50 million renovation this spring, is one of the recommended spots for a summer getaway.

New Hampshire and Newport, Rhode Island are also among the top 15 places to travel in July. Paris, Queensland, Australia, and Outer Banks, North Carolina are other popular destinations on the list. New Hampshire offers an array of summer activities such as boating, swimming, hiking, camping and fly fishing in areas like the White Mountains, Great North Woods and Lakes Region. The Lakes Region alone has over 270 bodies of water including Lake Winnipesaukee which is a popular spot for visitors.

Travel + Leisure describes New Hampshire as having something for everyone; from cozy cabins by the lake to luxurious mountainside lodges. On the other hand, Newport Rhode Island is another attractive summer destination with its Gilded Age mansions and stunning beaches. Visitors can enjoy scenic walks along Cliff Walk, bike rides along Ocean Drive or explore farmers markets while picnicking on the beach. The 55-year tradition Newport Classical Music Festival takes place from July 4th to 21st adding more charm to this destination making it more appealing for tourists.
