Microsoft imposes new restriction on Russia – effective immediately

The European Union (EU) has imposed new sanctions on Russia, which have led to the blocking of several cloud services from Microsoft, Amazon, Google, and Oracle. These restrictions affect Russian companies and organizations in various industries such as architecture, design, construction, manufacturing, media, education, entertainment, building information modeling (BIM), computer-aided design (CAD), and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM). However, individual persons are not affected by these restrictions.

The impact of these restrictions is already visible in Russia as companies like Softline Group of Companies have warned their customers about possible functional limitations in cloud services from Microsoft, Amazon, and Google. Microsoft has not specified which cloud services will be completely blocked and which will only be partially restricted. Still, TASS has compiled a list of over 50 services that will no longer work in Russia from April onwards. Additionally, Microsoft is blocking access to the LinkedIn service and related software as well as Media Player development tools.
