Pickaway-Ross Career & Technology Center Begins Expansion Initiative

The Pickaway-Ross Career & Technology Center in Chillicothe, OH achieved a significant milestone with the launch of its expansion project. On May 6, 2024, the groundbreaking ceremony took place, coinciding with Ohio’s In-Demand Jobs Week and featuring Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted. This event underscored the state’s commitment to advancing career-technical education and aligning with Ohio’s focus on enhancing vocational education initiatives.

The center secured over $7 million in funding to expand its carpentry, construction, robotics, and manufacturing programs. The expansion initiative aims to meet the growing interest in career pathways at Pickaway-Ross and accommodate the surge in enrollment. Lieutenant Governor Husted emphasized the urgent need for expanded vocational education opportunities, noting that technical job skills are highly sought after by employers.

Superintendent Jonathan Davis expressed his excitement about the expansion project, crediting it to the state’s Career Tech expansion grants. The ceremony included speeches from Ohio ACTE Executive Director Dee Smith and Justin Hollandsworth of Acoustic Ceiling and Partition (ACP), who highlighted the positive impact of the center’s programs on the local workforce and economy. The expansion signifies a pivotal moment for Pickaway-Ross, allowing it to meet the educational needs of the community and beyond with state-of-the-art facilities and programs tailored to industry demands.
