Germany’s Navy Interested in Buying Israeli Hermes 900 UAVs for Defense

Lufthansa Technik, a subsidiary of the German airline Lufthansa, has announced a collaboration with Israeli company Elbit Systems on military drones. According to reports, the German Navy is interested in purchasing eight Hermes 900 StarLiner UAVs from Elbit Systems, which will be responsible for producing the UAVs while Lufthansa Technik will handle maintenance and crew training. The specific cost of the contract has not been disclosed. This project marks the first UAV maintenance endeavor for Lufthansa Technik, which has previously provided support for NATO aircraft fleets including F-35 fighter jets, Chinook transport helicopters, and Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft.
