Lake Placid to unveil new health center

During a game against LeMoyne, Ava Vasile made history as she became the new all-time scoring leader for UVM women’s lacrosse. She surpassed the previous record of 255 set by Sydney Mas, achieving this milestone at Virtue Field where the Cats secured a 17-4 victory.

Vasile tied the record with two goals early in the game and went on to break it with a third goal in the first quarter. She continued to score throughout the game, adding two more goals to bring her total to 259 and counting. Reflecting on her achievement, Vasile expressed her disbelief and joy at realizing a dream she had as a freshman.

Head coach Sarah Dalton Graddock commended Vasile for her hard work over the course of five years at UVM. The coach noted that the previous record had stood for nine years and expressed her pride in Vasile’s accomplishment. She also praised Vasile’s dedication to the sport.

Looking ahead, Vasile now has her sights set on breaking the all-time goals record, also held by Sydney Mas. With 211 goals in her career so far, Vasile will need to score seven more to tie or eight more to surpass Mas with two games remaining in Vermont’s season. The team and fans eagerly anticipate seeing if Vasile can add this impressive accolade to her growing list of achievements.
