New Zealand T20 Squad Ready to Make a Splash at the World Cup with Experienced and New Players Combining Forces

Kane Williamson to Captain NZ Squad for T20 World Cup 2024 with Fit Devon Conway

New Zealand has announced their 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, with Matt Henry and Rachin Ravindra being the only two players set to make their debut in the tournament. Devon Conway has been included in the squad after recovering from a broken thumb, with Kane Williamson leading the team as captain.

Gary Stead, the coach of New Zealand’s T20 team, believes that the squad is well-equipped to handle different conditions in the West Indies and win the tournament. He praised Matt Henry’s hard work on his T20 skills and Rachin Ravindra’s impressive performances over the past year. The squad consists of experienced players like Tim Southee and Trent Boult, as well as newcomers like Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, and Jimmy Neesham.

Alex Malcolm, an associate editor at ESPNcricinfo, provided information about the squad selection. Conway had been ruled out of the IPL due to his injury but is now fit to play in the World Cup. Williamson missed New Zealand’s last two T20I series but now returns to lead the team. Adam Milne and Kyle Jamieson are unavailable due to injuries but Sodhi went on a tour of Pakistan. The squad also includes Daryl Mitchell and Lockie Ferguson who were part of New Zealand’s successful ICC Cricket World Cup campaign in 2019.
