Wiener, Former World Champion, Makes a Comeback in Shanghai 2024 Finals Arena

Nico Wiener was overjoyed as he advanced to the semifinals in the quarterfinal tiebreak against Mathias Fullerton. The arrow that secured his victory also earned him a spot in the compound men’s final four, marking his second appearance in this stage of the tournament after competing in Gwangju in 2022. Wiener will be up against Korea’s Yang Jaewon, under-21 world champion Priyansh, and Nick Kappers in the upcoming rounds.

Reflecting on his win, Wiener expressed his happiness and acknowledged the challenge of facing Fullerton, the reigning Hyundai Archery World Cup Champion. Despite the tough competition, Wiener recognized the importance of luck in his victory and emphasized the need to continuously improve his skills. Fullerton, who was seeded first at the event, delivered strong performances throughout but ultimately finished seventh in the competition.

In the compound women’s category, top qualifier Andrea Becerra secured a spot in the semifinals after defeating reigning World Archery Champion Aditi Swami in the quarterfinals.
