Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition Returns with Digital Competition on July 18th

Nintendo World Championship returns in online format, featuring challenges of 13 classic NES games

Players from around the world can participate in the Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, a global competition that takes place on the Nintendo Switch. This event celebrates the classic NES games and pays tribute to the in-person competitions that took place in 1990, 2015, and 2017.

The new edition will be digital only and take place on July 18. Subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online will have access to the World Championship mode where they can submit their best times in five challenges that rotate weekly to try and climb the world rankings. To warm up for the competition, players are encouraged to set personal records in single-player mode (Speedrun) before competing locally in Party mode.

The challenges will be taken from classic NES games such as Balloon Fight, Donkey Kong, Excitebike, and more. Additionally, a Deluxe Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition pack will be available on July 18, including a physical version of the game, collectible pins, commemorative illustrated cards, and a replica of the golden NES game pak.

Overall, this event promises a fun and competitive experience for players to showcase their skills and compete on a global scale.
