The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced that no changes will be made to the Buffalo Processing and Distribution Center following a review of its operations. This decision includes maintaining existing originating processing operations, business mail entry, post office services, branch retail services, and delivery services as they currently stand.
Initially, concerns were raised after a USPS review suggested that outgoing mail processing operations should be moved from William Street to a facility on Lyell Avenue in Rochester. However, this proposal faced criticism from local, state, and federal leaders who argued that such a move would negatively impact services in Buffalo and local small businesses.
The proposed plan called for the William Street facility to remain open as a local processing center, with no career employees losing their jobs. However, there was a possibility of some non-career employees being cut and concerns that some employees may have been required to transfer.
In response to these concerns, the USPS has decided to maintain operations at the Buffalo Processing and Distribution Center as they currently are. This ensures that there will be no changes to the services provided at the facility.
