Olympians Shine in Uneven Bars, Asil Takes Gold at FIG World Challenge Cup

In her seasonal debut in Antalya, Rebeca Andrade finishes second on uneven bars

In the uneven bars final at the FIG World Challenge Cup in Antalya, Türkiye on Sunday (31 March), Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade finished in second place. The 24-year-old achieved vault gold and all-around silver at Tokyo 2020, scoring 14.067 for her routine, just half a point behind French Olympian Melanie de Jesus dos Santos. Georgia-Mae Fenton of Britain took third with a score of 13.767.

In the vault final, eight-time Olympian Oksana Chusovitina delivered two strong performances and secured her second place with an average score of 12.917. The Uzbekistani veteran has one final opportunity to qualify for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 at May’s Asian Championships in Tashkent.

Adem Asil won the floor event with a score of 14.400, narrowly missing first place by just five-hundredths behind his teammate Ibrahim Colak, the 2019 world champion. Jordan’s Ahmad Abu Al Soud claimed victory on the pommel horse with a score of 14.900, surpassing Nariman Kurbanov of Kazakhstan.
