Over 17 Million Travelers Expected on Trenitalia’s Spring Long Weekend Routes

During the spring long weekends, over 17 million travelers chose Trenitalia

This spring, Trenitalia is expecting more than 17 million people to travel with them during the long weekends connected to the holidays of April 25th and May 1st. Nearly half of these travelers, 47%, have already purchased their tickets through digital channels, marking a 5% increase compared to purchases on the site and app in 2023. Bookings led by Luigi Corradi and the Passenger Hub of the FS Group show a 2.5% growth compared to the previous year, reflecting Italians’ conscious choice to use trains as a sustainable and eco-friendly mode of transportation for their trips.

Italian cities of art such as Florence, Naples, Rome, and Venice are driving bookings for both long-distance trains like Frecce and Intercity, as well as regional trains. Switzerland is among the most popular foreign destinations reachable from Italy, while regions like Puglia, Liguria, Sicily, and Calabria are favored by those seeking seaside getaways. The number of travelers heading to villages is also on the rise.

Frecciarossa, known for its excellence in Italian rail service, is increasing its connections and available seats to provide a more frequent and convenient service to passengers during the spring long weekends. Additional connections will be activated between Milan and Pescara, as well as Milan and Calabria on specific dates to meet high demand. Extraordinary departures are scheduled for some Frecciarossa trains traveling between Milan
