Air Liquide has opened a hydrogen refueling station in Paris to support the official hydrogen-powered fleet for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Located at Place de l’Alma in the city center, this station will enable refueling times of approximately five minutes for a range of up to 650km. The event’s fleet includes 500 hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai cars, with Air Liquide and Toyota previously partnering to showcase hydrogen mobility during Nuit Blanche by offering free public hydrogen shuttles around Paris.

Funding for this station was provided by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership through the H2ME2 programme, a public-private partnership supported by the EU Horizon’s 2020 research and innovation programme, Hydrogen Europe and Hydrogen Europe Research. Armelle Levieux, a Member of Air Liquide’s Executive Committee overseeing hydrogen activities, stated, “Paris 2024 represents a fantastic opportunity to accelerate the development and adoption of hydrogen.”

In addition to this initiative, Air Liquide and TotalEnergies have recently launched a joint venture called TEAL Mobility to establish a network of 100 hydrogen refuelling stations across Europe. These stations will be under the TotalEnergies brand, with an initial goal of operating around 20 stations in France, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany starting in 2024. This move aims to support the acceleration of hydrogen heavy-duty trucks across Europe.
