Patriots Extend Draft Pick Christian Barmore’s Contract by $92 Million in New Chapter of Rebuilding under Jerod Mayo

Patriots giving Christian Barmore a significant pay increase with 4-year extension potentially worth $92M

The New England Patriots have recently signed defensive tackle Christian Barmore to a four-year, $92 million contract extension. Barmore, who was picked 32nd overall in the 2021 draft, had an impressive 2023 season with 8.5 sacks, 64 tackles, and 13 tackles for a loss.

The extension includes $41.8 million in guaranteed money and represents a significant raise for Barmore, who was set to earn $1.82 million in the final year of his original deal. If he reaches the full value of the contract, he would average $23 million per year.

This move is crucial for the Patriots as they rebuild following the departure of Bill Belichick. Head coach Jerod Mayo’s first NFL Draft yielded promising results, including quarterback Drake Maye with the No. 3 overall pick, earning a high grade from experts. This move demonstrates the team’s commitment to building a strong foundation for the future.
