Peterson Family’s $20 Million Donation Brings Inova Health System Close to $75 Million Fundraising Goal

Peterson Family Donates $20M to Inova Health System: Report

The Peterson family of Fairfax-based Peterson Cos. recently made a significant donation of $20 million to the Inova Health System, bringing them closer to their $75 million fundraising goal. Last spring, NVR. Inc. founder Dwight Schar and his wife Martha issued a challenge to the healthcare system to match their own $75 million gift to the Inova’s Heart and Vascular Institute. Thanks to the generosity of the Peterson family, Inova has now raised $68 million towards their goal.

Sage Bolte, chief philanthropy officer and president of the Inova Health Foundation, expressed her gratitude for the Peterson family’s contribution, stating that it will have a significant impact on the lives of many patients and families in the community and region. The majority of the Peterson family’s gift, $15 million, will be allocated to support Inova’s Life with Cancer program, which offers free psychosocial support and education to individuals and families affected by cancer. The program has been renamed the Inova Peterson Life with Cancer in recognition of their contribution.

Overall, the donation from the Peterson family will greatly benefit the Inova Health System and enable them to continue providing essential services to those in need. To read more about this generous gift, you can find the full report in the Washington Business Journal.
