Phil Mickelson Says Goodbye to Longtime Caddie Tim Mickelson as LIV Golf Readies for Next Event

Phil announces Tim Mickelson’s retirement as his brother’s caddie

Phil Mickelson has announced the retirement of his longtime caddie, Tim Mickelson. This news comes nearly seven years after Mickelson split with his bagman of 25 years, Bones Mackay, in June 2017. Tim replaced Mackay and helped Mickelson win three times on the PGA Tour, including the 2021 PGA Championship.

Tim first took on his brother’s bag when he left his job as the men’s college golf coach at Arizona State to become Jon Rahm’s agent. During his time as Phil’s caddie, he was instrumental in helping him achieve great moments both on and off the course. However, Tim has decided to retire from caddying to focus on spending more time with his family as his brother’s life has evolved with Maranda and their growing family.

Mickelson expressed gratitude for the great moments shared with Tim over the past eight years. While no replacement has yet been announced, LIV Golf will hold its next event next week at Doral outside of Miami.
