Polarizing Conflict: Protests Spread to Universities Across the US

Protests have been taking place at various universities across the United States in support of Palestine, with clashes between pro-Palestinian demonstrators and those supporting Israel. At the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York, masked protesters occupied the campus in solidarity with Columbia University protests, with some members of the anti-Zionist Neturi Karta group involved. Riot police were called in to evacuate the area and make arrests.

Similarly, severe riots were reported at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, with protesters attempting to occupy a building, leading to the deployment of pellet balls and tear gas. Clashes also occurred at the University of California, UCLA, between students supporting Hamas and those opposing it. Anti-Israel demonstrations were held at the University of Pennsylvania, with students taking over a park to launch an encampment.

Meanwhile, President Alan Granberg requested police assistance at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., to remove pro-Palestinian demonstrators who had set up a protest tent in violation of university policy. Meanwhile, a demonstration in support of Israel took place at Columbia University, where attendees waved American and Israeli flags and called for the return of abductees amidst ongoing clashes on campus.

The escalating tensions and clashes between pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli demonstrators highlight the polarizing nature of the Israel-Palestine conflict, with protests and demonstrations spreading to various campuses across the country.
