Purdue University Teaching Academy Inducts Six Outstanding Educators, Including Two from School of Engineering Technology

Newell and Turner of engineering technology appointed to Purdue Teaching Academy

Purdue University Teaching Academy announced six new fellows for 2024, recognizing outstanding teaching in graduate, undergraduate, or engagement programs. Two of the inductees are from Purdue Polytechnic’s School of Engineering Technology: Brittany Newell and Matthew Turner.

Newell is an agricultural and biological engineering expert based on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus, while Turner is an electrical engineering expert representing Purdue Polytechnic in New Albany, Indiana. The candidates were selected based on evidence of excellence in teaching, innovative teaching methods, teaching-related service, and scholarship in teaching and learning.

The Teaching Academy aims to unite the best teaching faculty and graduate students to advocate for teaching excellence. In collaboration with the Center for Instructional Excellence, the Teaching Academy organizes programs and activities that promote educational creativity, innovation, and effectiveness in and out of the classroom.

Turner expressed gratitude for his induction, stating that he was honored to be recognized for his world-class teaching at Purdue Polytechnic. The Teaching Academy celebrates the accomplishments and contributions of outstanding educators at Purdue University, highlighting their commitment to teaching excellence and innovative pedagogy.
