Raegan Beers joins Oklahoma’s women’s basketball program: A new chapter for a standout player

Raegan Beers, Former Oregon State standout, chooses Oklahoma as transfer destination

Oklahoma has announced that Raegan Beers, a former Oregon State star, will be joining their women’s basketball program. The junior forward made the decision to transfer after averaging an impressive 17.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game during her last season with the Beavers.

Beers emerged as a standout player with impressive shooting percentages, ranking second in the country. However, despite Oregon State’s success in previous seasons, including reaching the Elite Eight of the NCAA women’s basketball tournament, Beers felt it was time to seek a new opportunity at Oklahoma.

The dissolution of the Pac-12 led to several players entering the transfer portal, prompting Beers and others to explore different options. In her video announcement, she expressed excitement about the next chapter in her career and highlighted the importance of competition and passion for the game. She considered UConn but ultimately chose Oklahoma, where she will have the opportunity to play alongside top players like Skylar Vann, Payton Verhulst, and Sahara Williams.

Oklahoma’s women’s basketball program has seen success in recent years under head coach Jennie Baranczyk, winning consecutive Big 12 titles and making consecutive NCAA tournament appearances. With the addition of Beers to their roster, they look poised to continue their winning streak as they transition to SEC competition in 2022-2023 season facing formidable opponents like LSU and South Carolina.

Overall Beers is excited for this new opportunity at Oklahoma and looking forward to playing with some of the best players in the country while also continuing her growth as a player.
