The banner was dropped from Globe Life Field’s roof support high above right field, commemorating their historic win.
Rangers pitcher Max Scherzer, who was part of the Washington Nationals’ championship team in 2019, expressed his excitement to enjoy the celebration with the fans this time, unlike in 2020 when pandemic restrictions prevented an in-person gathering. Cubs manager Craig Counsell, who experienced winning a World Series himself, admitted to feeling a sense of envy while watching the ceremony from the opposing dugout.
Bochy expressed his gratitude to the fans for their tremendous support and encouraged the players to savor the moment and take it all in. The championship rings will be presented before the series’ second game on Saturday night, adding to the celebratory atmosphere at the stadium. This marked the Rangers’ first championship win in their 52nd season in Texas and 63rd overall as a franchise dating back to 1961.
