RedHawks All-American Kicker Graham Nicholson Set to Transfer to Alabama

Nicholson, winner of Lou Groza Award, transferring to Alabama

The Miami of Ohio All-American, Graham Nicholson, has announced his decision to transfer to Alabama. The winner of the Lou Groza Award for the nation’s top placekicker shared his commitment on social media over the weekend. Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer is in search of a replacement for Will Reichard, who holds the title of NCAA’s all-time leading scorer.

Nicholson’s impressive record includes making 27 out of 28 field goals in his last season with the RedHawks and scoring all but one of his 36 extra-point attempts. He is the first Lou Groza Award winner from the Mid-American Conference and holds several records at Miami, including a career-long 52-yard field goal against Bowling Green and a total of 113 points scored last season, ranking fourth in program history. As a three-year starter, he also holds the Miami career record for making 84.5% of his field goal attempts.

In search of a new kicker to replace Reichard, DeBoer has expressed interest in Nicholson as he looks to fill the void left by the departing senior. With Nicholson’s impressive record and accolades, he is sure to be a valuable addition to the Crimson Tide program and will undoubtedly help fill that void.
