Rescue Mission: Fairfield Firefighters and Police Officers Work Together to Save 46 Dogs from Burning Kennel

Essex County Business Complex Fire Leads to Rescue of 46 Dogs

On Sunday, firefighters and police officers in Essex County came together to rescue numerous dogs from a kennel located within the Pio Costa Industrial Complex at 1275 Bloomfield Avenue in Fairfield. The blaze took place around 9:30 p.m., causing significant damage to several businesses within the complex, including K9 Resorts Hotel, MR Convenience and Smoke Shop, Eatery Care Kitchen, and Bella Art Tattoo.

When authorities arrived on the scene, they quickly evacuated many of the dogs from the kennel but had to halt their efforts due to unsafe smoke levels. However, after several hours of work by Fairfield firefighters, all 46 remaining dogs were safely evacuated from the facility. All of the dogs are currently being examined by veterinarians as a precautionary measure.

The successful evacuation was made possible by the cooperation of multiple fire departments from surrounding areas as well as the West Essex First Aid Squad. Fairfield police are now working with representatives from K9 Resorts Hotel and the Associated Humane Society to relocate all of the dogs to another facility owned by K9 Resorts Hotel. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Fairfield Fire Prevention Bureau. Overall, this incident highlights how important it is for law enforcement officers and firefighters to work together in times of emergency to ensure everyone’s safety and well-being.
