Capcom Plans to Release a New Main Episode in the Resident Evil Franchise

Capcom has recently announced that a new installment in the beloved Resident Evil series is being developed under the direction of esteemed director Koshi Nakanishi. The news was unveiled during the Capcom Next: Summer 2024 program, sparking excitement among fans of the franchise.

Nakanishi, who has been involved in the Resident Evil franchise since his work as a designer on Resident Evil 5 and as a director on Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, Resident Evil: Revelations, and Resident Evil 7 biohazard, expressed his enthusiasm for the new project. “We are working on a new Resident Evil,” he said. “It was challenging to determine the direction to take after Resident Evil 7 biohazard. However, we have finally made a decision, and honestly, it is looking very promising.”

While Nakanishi couldn’t reveal any specifics about the game just yet, he promised that it would deliver an eerie atmosphere and engaging gameplay, much like its predecessor. With expectations among fans of the series already high following the success of Resident Evil 7 biohazard, which rejuvenated the series by introducing innovative elements and refocusing on horror, this upcoming game promises to be highly anticipated.
