Restoring Public Trust: A Closer Look at FDA Regulation of Medical Treatments and Devices

Rodgers and Guthrie Chair Health Subcommittee Meeting featuring FDA Center Directors

In an effort to ensure the safety and effectiveness of medical treatments and devices, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Subcommittee on Health Chair Brett Guthrie (R-KY) have announced a hearing titled “Check Up: Examining FDA Regulation of Drugs, Biologics, and Devices.” The importance of transparency in rebuilding public trust in government health agencies was highlighted by the committee chairs.

The hearing is set for Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 10:30 AM ET at 2322 Rayburn House Office Building. Witnesses expected to appear include Dr. Patrizia Cavazzoni from the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), Dr. Peter Marks from the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER), and Dr. Jeffrey Shuren from the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
