Revolutionizing Military Healthcare: 96th Medical Group Leads the Way with Patient-Centric Approach and Digital Tools

The Eglin Air Force Base adopts virtual, digital health care delivery system

The 96th Medical Group at Eglin Air Force Base is collaborating with other Defense Health Agency (DHA) medical facilities to create a new, patient-centric healthcare model. The aim of this innovative approach is to revolutionize the way patients receive care and how providers deliver it. By contributing to this initiative, the 96th Medical Group is helping DHA refine the existing healthcare model and implement it across the military health system by year’s end.

Colonel Brad Brough, commander of the 96th MDG, emphasizes the importance of actively engaging patients in their health to improve satisfaction, outcomes, and daily well-being. In order to facilitate these changes, DHA has invested in digital tools known as My Military Health. These tools aim to make it faster, easier, and more convenient for patients to access care and their health information.

The first phase of My Military Health implementation includes a digital self-care wellness program called SilverCloud, which provides on-demand access to clinically-validated wellness programs and coaching support. Patients will also have access to additional digital platforms and resources such as Virtual Visits, allowing them to schedule appointments and access care remotely, and Care Companion, which enhances health care plan compliance and connectivity with their healthcare team.

Colonel Brough is thrilled about being part of the redesign of military healthcare. He believes that his team is ready to embrace innovation and improve the delivery of care to those they serve.
