Revolutionizing Payment and Identity Verification: Amazon’s New Palm Recognition Service Now Available on Mobile App

Amazon One now enables palm registration through its mobile application

Amazon’s new mobile application, Amazon One, has been launched for users to register for its palm recognition service. The app is now available for download on the App Store and Google Play Store. Originally introduced in September 2020 as a system for making payments at establishments using palm recognition, as well as for identification purposes at stadiums or workplaces, Amazon One is now accessible through the mobile application.

Initially, Amazon One was only available in selected Amazon Go stores where users could register their palms at devices located at the entrance to pay for their purchases. With the introduction of the mobile application, users can now register through the app without physically going to an Amazon One location. Currently, the app is only available in the United States.

The mobile application allows users to register by creating an online profile through their Amazon account, taking a photo of their palm (both palms can be registered), and adding a payment method. Once registered, users can use Amazon One for payments and to store and access tickets or loyalty cards by placing their palm on an Amazon One device.

Amazon emphasized that the service offers 99.9999 percent accuracy thanks to the use of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology that compares palm images stored in the app with those stored in the Amazon One device. Palm images created through the app are encrypted and sent to a secure Amazon On domain in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud, ensuring security and privacy.
