Brewers to implement license plate technology on Opening Day

On Tuesday, April 2, the Milwaukee Brewers and Interstate Parking are launching a new parking system at American Family Field. The parking lot will be implementing license plate recognition technology to make it easier for fans to park and reduce long lines. Jason Hartlund, the chief commercial officer for the Brewers, expressed the team’s commitment to improving the fan experience by reducing wait times.

The license plate recognition parking system is a unique feature in Major League Baseball and large sports facilities in the country. Cameras have been installed across the stadium parking lot to capture license plate information of each car entering. This data will be securely stored in Interstate Parking’s system for up to 36 months. The decision to implement this system was made with the goal of enhancing the overall fan experience.

Fans can purchase pre-paid tickets through the MLB Ballpark app to streamline the parking process. Upon arrival, fans can simply scan a QR code to access the parking lot. For those purchasing a pass on the day-of, they will need to follow additional steps like scanning the QR code and entering credit card information. Hartlund highlights that the new system will save fans time by reducing wait times significantly.
