Rising Burglaries in Eagle Rock: Community Demands Action from Local Law Enforcement as More Businesses Targeted

Eagle Rock Business Owners Demand Answers Following String of Burglaries

More than a half-dozen Eagle Rock businesses have been hit by burglaries in recent weeks, leaving owners demanding action from local law enforcement. The most recent incidents occurred early Sunday morning at two restaurants and a coffee shop, adding to the growing concern among community members.

Security video from the businesses shows a man smashing through each door along Colorado Boulevard just after 4 a.m. on Sunday. Dominica Abat, owner of Loop Espresso Club, arrived to find the coffee shop’s door shattered, just weeks after opening. Although no cash was stolen in this instance, he is worried about future incidents costing him more money.

Alan Moore, owner of Cheebo restaurant, described how a suspect threw a brick through their front door, leading to costly repairs. Chateau Lemongrass was another victim of the recent burglaries, marking the second time in a month that the business had been targeted. Employees reported that the thieves stole their safe during the first incident.

With at least five other businesses targeted in the past month, the Los Angeles Police Department has increased patrols in the area. Additionally, LA City Councilman Kevin de León allocated $100,000 in January for extra police work in the district to combat burglaries in the Eagle Rock community. Owners are hoping that these measures will help prevent further incidents and bring some peace back to their neighborhoods.
