In an unfortunate incident, a 20-year-old patient sustained severe injuries while operating a straw rolling machine. The doctor had to cut and shape the stump of his arm in an emergency procedure after the young man’s arm was crushed. The patient initially received first aid at a nearby medical facility before being transferred to Xuyen A Long An General Hospital for further treatment.

Upon examination and CT scan, it was found that the victim had completely severed the upper 1/3 of his left brachial artery, as well as other blood vessels and nerves. The lower part of his humerus and forearm were also crushed. Doctor Nguyen Tuan Khanh, Head of the Department of Trauma and Orthopedics, explained that the patient was brought to the hospital in a critical condition with these severe injuries.

After consulting with other doctors, the decision was made to amputate the limb in order to save the patient’s life. The surgery involved removing the crushed area, cleaning the wound multiple times with water, and shaping the stump of the lower 1/3 of the left arm. The patient was closely monitored post-surgery and received treatment for wound infection with antibiotics.

The doctor emphasized the importance of workplace safety and urged people to take necessary precautions and follow safety regulations. This incident serves as a reminder of the risks involved in certain occupations and the need for proper safety measures. The patient has since been discharged from the hospital after receiving appropriate care and treatment.
