Rookie Goalie Set to Start for Carolina Hurricanes in Game 3; Evgeny Kuznetsov Returns as Well

Canes Switch Goalies for Game 3, Start Pyotr Kochetkov in Net

The Carolina Hurricanes are seeking a comeback in the second-round series against the New York Rangers, and they are bringing in fresh blood to do it. Goalie Pyotr Kochetkov will start in Game 3, with Coach Rod Brind’Amour making the announcement just seven hours before the game.

Kochetkov is a 24-year-old rookie who has NHL experience, and he hasn’t played since April 14. Andersen, who had allowed eight goals on 62 shots in the first two games, will be given a break due to his heavy workload since returning from health issues in March. Brind’Amour expressed hope that Kochetkov will have a great game and emphasized the importance of having a fresh player in goal.

The Hurricanes are also bringing back Evgeny Kuznetsov to the lineup after he was scratched in their overtime loss to the Rangers in Game 2. With these lineup changes, the Hurricanes are looking to turn things around and secure a win in Game 3.
