Rover Overcome: Mars Science Mission Resumes After Unexpected Setback, Plans for Imaging and Exploration Continue

Here we go again: It feels like déjà vu

We were all excited to continue our mission on Mars when we discovered a fault in one of our arm activities, causing us to lose two sols of plans. However, we’re now back on track and making our third attempt to complete our science activities at this stop.

Today, we’re focused on taking pictures of nearby bedrock using ChemCam and Mastcam targets such as “Sherwood Forest,” “Tableland,” and “Troll Valley.” We also planned a Mastcam image of “Elf Woods,” originally meant for the weekend but removed due to power considerations.

Once these science activities are completed, Curiosity will drive approximately 10 meters closer to our third stop on Vera Rubin Ridge. We can only hope that everything goes smoothly this time around!
