Russian unmanned aerial vehicles swarm Odessa and Mykolaiv

In the wee hours of the night, Russia launched a devastating attack on energy infrastructure in Odessa and Mykolaiv regions. According to reports by Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, Moscow targeted the two southern regions with a wave of drones, resulting in 12 being shot down over Mykolaiv Oblast and two over Odessa Oblast.

The extent of the damage caused to the power plant is still being assessed, along with damage to a private house and several cars in Odessa. The mayor of Odessa, Hennadii Trukhanov, confirmed the attacks on his Telegram channel.

However, the attacks didn’t stop there. Russian forces also targeted Odessa with missiles, causing significant damage to critical infrastructure and a transportation company. Two employees were injured in the attack.

The State Emergency Service reported that firefighters were able to extinguish fires at a power plant in the Mykolaiv district and a coastal settlement of Ochakiv where downed drone fragments caused a fire.

Russian special services agents arrested an SBU agent in Zaporizhzhia who was allegedly preparing a terrorist attack against Russian military personnel. The Russian FSB department reported that the SBU coordinated the agent’s activities by providing weapons. During a search of the suspect’s home, Russian agents seized 3 TNT bombs and components for making an incendiary mixture.

The situation remains tense in the region as these attacks and incidents escalate, highlighting Russia’s continued aggression towards Ukraine.
