Scarlett Johansson Joins ‘Jurassic World’ Franchise: A New Dinosaur Dynasty with Gareth Edwards and Chris Pratt Leads the Way.

Scarlett Johansson in Discussions to Star in Upcoming ‘Jurassic World’ Film

Scarlett Johansson is in talks to join the cast of Universal’s new Jurassic World movie, set for release on July 2, 2025. Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, the film is quickly gaining momentum in production. This marks a return to franchises for Johansson, who previously starred as Black Widow in Marvel Studios movies. Despite her success in superhero films, she has also earned critical acclaim with Oscar nominations for Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit.

The new Jurassic World movie is part of the 30-year old franchise that began with Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park in 1993. The franchise has spawned numerous sequels and revivals over the years, including Jurassic Park III (2001) and Fallen Kingdom (2018), with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard leading the most recent trilogy of films. Filmmaker Colin Trevorrow oversaw these films, and Johansson’s potential involvement adds to the star-studded cast of the franchise.
