Science Saturday: Tree of Life at Valdosta State University Discovers the Secrets of Life

Valdosta State University to hold Science Saturday event

The College of Science and Mathematics at Valdosta State University is hosting Science Saturday: Tree of Life in the Hugh C. Bailey Science Center. The event will take place on April 13 from 9 a.m. to noon and is open to community members of all ages.

Science Saturday: Tree of Life is an educational opportunity for attendees to explore the scientific study of life. The event will feature various topics such as lizards, snakes, frog acoustics, seahorse fossils, and plant pigment chromatography. There will be interactive activities like a species scavenger hunt, interacting with betta fish, and exploring if plants feel stress.

The event is part of VSU’s STEM Initiative, which aims to inspire the next generation to learn more about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Faculty within the College of Science and Mathematics recognize the importance of student success in STEM fields for the nation’s future economic prosperity.

Science Saturday activities are free and open to the public, with parking available in various lots around Main Campus. No VSU parking permit is required for this event. Science Saturday: Tree of Life is the final event in the spring calendar, with activities set to resume in the fall.
