Senators Brown and Vance Urge SBA for Disaster Declaration in Logan County after Devastating Tornadoes Cause Ongoing Damage

Brown and Vance Call on Administration to Declare Logan County a Small Business Disaster Area

The recent tornadoes that hit Ohio on March 14, 2024 caused significant damage to businesses and homes in Logan County. U.S. Senators Sherrod Brown and J.D. Vance have urged the Small Business Administration to provide a disaster declaration for Logan County to aid in the recovery efforts. This declaration would make low-interest loans available for qualifying businesses to repair the damage caused by the tornadoes. Governor DeWine has also requested this disaster declaration.

The senators emphasized the extensive damage caused by the tornadoes in Central Ohio, resulting in the destruction of homes, apartments, and businesses. This damage led to loss of life and serious injuries for many Ohio residents. While several counties were affected by the tornadoes, Logan County has experienced ongoing economic damage that surpasses the threshold for SBA disaster assistance.

In previous years, Brown and Vance have advocated for a FEMA disaster declaration in several other Ohio counties impacted by tornadoes, including Auglaize, Crawford, Darke, Delaware, Hancock, Licking, Mercer, Miami, Richland, and Union counties. The letter requesting a disaster declaration for Logan County can be found on their website.

The senators highlighted the need for federal assistance to help businesses and homeowners recover from the devastating effects of the tornadoes in Logan County. They urged the Small Business Administration to take swift action and provide aid to those affected by this natural disaster.
