The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Introduces New Siebel School of Computing and Data Science within The Grainger College of Engineering

Nancy M. Amato, the Computer Science Department Head and Abel Bliss Professor of Engineering, expressed her gratitude for the support from Mr. Siebel. The generous gift has provided new opportunities for the computing and data science community at the University of Illinois to thrive. Students and faculty have been involved in groundbreaking developments such as the first modern web browser, PayPal, YouTube, Siebel Systems, C3 AI, and Yelp. They will continue to pursue innovation in the field with a focus on advancing frontiers at the intersections of computing and data science.

The new Siebel School of Computing & Data Science is currently pending approval by the University of Illinois Board of Trustees with a goal of providing new and accessible pathways for students to pursue education in computing. The school will build on the university’s history of computing innovation while focusing on cutting-edge research that pushes boundaries beyond traditional disciplines.

Siebel, an alumnus of the university and CEO of C3 AI, has played a significant role in supporting the advancement of computing and data science education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
