Single-Family Office Warren B. Kanders Buys L3Harris Technologies’ Antenna and Test Equipment Businesses for $200 Million: A Strategic Move in the Defense Electronics Industry

L3Harris secures family office to obtain antenna business

Warren B. Kanders, a single-family office owner, has purchased L3Harris Technologies’ antenna and test equipment businesses for $200 million. The deal includes $175 million in cash and a $25 million seller note. This transaction is expected to be completed in the current quarter.

Kanders & Co. plans to use the acquired businesses to create Fisica, a new defense electronics company that will supply both prime contractors and Defense Department agencies in the electronic warfare and communications space. Warren B. Kanders expressed his optimism about the growth potential of the combined businesses due to their product portfolio and customer relationships.

The businesses being sold currently employ around 375 people and are part of L3Harris’ space and airborne systems segment. They specialize in manufacturing airborne and ground-based antennas and test equipment. This divestiture is part of L3Harris’ ongoing efforts to reshape its portfolio, following recent acquisitions of Aerojet Rocketdyne and a secure data product business from Viasat in 2023.

L3Harris has been actively restructuring its portfolio, selling off assets while acquiring new ones to align its business with its long-term strategy. The sale of its antenna and test equipment businesses to Kanders & Co. represents a strategic move to focus on core areas of growth within the defense electronics industry.
