Small Farm Grants: $6.2 Million Available from State Department of Agriculture and USDA

NC farmers and business owners receive millions in USDA grants

Darius and Shameeka McKoy, owners of 12:03AM Farm in Sampson County, are one example of small agricultural businesses that can benefit from the $6.2 million in grants available from the state department of agriculture and USDA. The funds range from $10,000 to $2 million and can be used for equipment and infrastructure to expand a grower’s food supply and reach different distribution channels.

Beth Farrell from the state department of agriculture stated that these grants will provide much-needed resources for small farmers like the McKoys. She explained that the money can be used to improve a farm’s production capabilities, increase revenue streams, and better serve their community by providing fresh produce at local farmers markets or other distribution points.

The application deadline for these grants is June 15th. Interested applicants can visit the provided link for more information on how to apply. If you’re looking for up-to-date news, weather forecasts, sports updates or streaming videos visit CBS17.com.
