Solar Eclipse Spectacle: A Unique Event at the Kentucky Science Center

Special solar eclipse event offered at the Kentucky Science Center

The Kentucky Science Center in Louisville is set to host a special event in honor of the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. This unique event will feature a variety of educational programming and activities that are free with admission, as well as a limited number of eclipse glasses that will be distributed for free to attendees.

Guests at the event will have the opportunity to explore all 50,000 square feet of exhibits at the Kentucky Science Center and participate in special programming that will be stationed throughout the galleries. These activities will focus on topics such as eclipse-viewing safety, the principles of gravity, different cultural interpretations of eclipses and constellations, and the chance to view the partial eclipse.

During this special occasion, guests can enjoy a range of activities including creating pinhole cameras, streaming coverage of the eclipse from NASA, and engaging in educational activities that teach about UV rays and more. Additionally, documentary screenings of Journey to Space 3-D will be available in the center’s four-story theater, which explores NASA’s Space Shuttle program, the International Space Station, and the Hubble Space Telescope.

Mike Norman, CEO of Kentucky Science Center expressed his excitement for this event and shared his enthusiasm for engaging with guests about this fascinating natural phenomenon. The event is made possible in part by NASA Kentucky Space Grant. The Kentucky Science Center is located at 727 W Main Street and is open seven days a week from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm
