Stefon Diggs Embarks on New Chapter with Houston Texans as He Ditches His Familiar No. 14 for No. 1

Stefon Diggs to sport No. 1 jersey for the Texans

Stefon Diggs has decided on a new jersey number for his time with the Texans. Instead of sticking with his previous number, No. 14, which he wore during his nine-year career with the Vikings and the Bills, Diggs has opted for No. 1. The team announced this change on Thursday night.

While Diggs could have continued to wear No. 14 with the Texans, he chose to go with No. 1 instead. This new number creates symbology for Houston, as the city has a 713 area code. Quarterback C.J. Stroud wears No. 7, Diggs now wears No. 1, and receiver Tank Dell wears No. 3. The Texans’ social media team highlighted this connection by sharing photos of the three players together, forming the numbers 713 as a tribute to the city.

It’s important to note that safety Jimmie Ward, who wore No. 1 last year for Houston, will now be wearing No. 20 according to the team’s roster. With this new jersey number choice, Stefon Diggs has cemented his place within the team and added to the symbolism of the numbers within the Texans’ roster.
