Sugar Factory’s Indianapolis Location in Legal Troubles Over Unpaid Rent

Circle Centre seeks to evict Sugar Factory for allegedly owing $333,000 in rent.

Sugar Factory, a renowned restaurant chain known for its sweet treats and adult beverages, is facing legal troubles at its Indianapolis location. The complaint, filed by Circle Centre Mall, LLC. in March, states that the Sugar Factory subsidiary SF Indianapolis 88 LLC. has not been paying rent since January 2023. Documents included in the complaint show that the Sugar Factory subsidiary owes over $333,000 in back rent.

The popular restaurant chain opened its Indianapolis location in April 2022 at 49 W. Maryland Street, the former site of Palomino restaurant. An eviction hearing for Sugar Factory is scheduled for May 1 in Marion County Superior Court 3. The letter sent to Sugar Factory from Circle Centre Mall, LLC. outlining the back rent owed was also included in the court filings.

Circle Centre Mall’s landlord has taken steps to evict Sugar Factory from its location due to the restaurant defaulting on rent payments. It seems that the popular restaurant chain is struggling financially at its Indianapolis location and may face closure if it does not pay off the back rent it owes or come to a resolution with Circle Centre Mall, LLC.
