On March 27, the 60,000th visitor was welcomed to Discovery World on Market as the museum’s one-year anniversary approached on April 2. The milestone was reached just days before the anniversary, surpassing expectations of between 20,000 to 30,000 visitors in the first year.

Peyton Cochran and her family were surprised with music, blow-horns, and a round of applause from the museum staff as they were celebrated as the special guest. In addition to free admission for the day, they also received a commemorative gift from the museum.

A formal celebration is planned for April 27, from 2-4 p.m., in conjunction with Izzy’s birthday. The museum mascot will turn three years old and guests are invited to join in the festivities. On Friday, Discovery World will host its monthly Izzy’s Kids Club event, focusing on STEM themes. This event is open to children of all ages and promises to be a fun and educational experience.

Upcoming events at Discovery World include an Earth Celebration Day on April 21st where guests can learn about sustainability and environmental conservation efforts from local organizations such as the Wood County Solid Waste Authority and Forestry Service. Summer STEM camps registration is now open for children interested in exploring science, technology, engineering and mathematics through hands-on activities. The first Imagination Gala fundraiser will take place on June 8th where guests can enjoy food, drinks and entertainment while supporting Discovery World’s mission of inspiring children through hands-on STEAM learning. Tables for eight people are $1,000 or tables for six are $750 with individual tickets available for purchase online at $80 or couples tickets at $150 .
