Two sports bar employees seek safety in cooler as tornado rips through strip center in Katy area

Near Katy, TX, a tornado caused widespread destruction, leaving several homes and businesses in ruins. Amidst the devastation, two men working at the Bourbon Street Sports Bar were able to survive by taking shelter inside a cooler during the storm. They described the terrifying experience of hearing the rumbling and shaking of the walls as the tornado approached.

One woman in the Memorial Parkway neighborhood shared her gratitude for being alive after her fence was knocked down and a large branch fell on her roof during the storm. Her niece rushed to help clean up the damage, recounting how her aunt felt the house moving slightly during the storm.
