Farmers, like Kevin Cox of west-central Indiana, are using high-speed planters and other technological advancements to optimize their planting schedules for maximum efficiency. Despite these advantages, recent crop reports from the USDA indicate that planting progress in Indiana is lagging behind compared to previous years. Only 8% of corn and soybeans have been planted, falling short of both last year’s pace and the 5-year average.
