Teeing Up for the NCAA South/Southeast Regional: The Challenging yet Exciting Journey of USC Aiken Golf Team

USC Aiken golf team ready to compete in NCAA Regional | Local Sports

The No. 7 USC Aiken golf team is gearing up for the NCAA South/Southeast Regional tournament, which will take place from May 9-11 in Gainesville, Georgia. The tournament will be hosted by top-ranked North Georgia and will feature fifteen of the top 25 teams in the Division II Bushnell/Golfweek Poll, competing for five spots at the national championship. Among the teams participating are six of the top 10 ranked teams.

Leading the charge for USC Aiken’s team is head coach Michael Carlisle, who has assembled a lineup of talented players to compete at the highest level. The nationally-ranked teams in the tournament include North Georgia, Lincoln Memorial, Georgia Southwestern, USCA, Lee, West Florida, Nova Southeastern, Lander, Saint Leo, Florida Southern, Barton, Coker, Barry, Columbus State and Shorter.

The Pacers’ team includes Oscar Abrahamsson (72.06 stroke average), Justice Hartman (74.67 stroke average), Rory McDonald O’Brien (72.18 stroke average), Erik Olin (71.81 stroke average) and Gage Weeks (making his first appearance of the year with a career average of 75.2).

Among them is Erik Olin who leads the team with a stroke average of 71.81 and has achieved two top-five finishes and two more in the top 10 throughout the season. His best round was a team-low 64 at the Tennessee River Rumble and finishing tied for second place at this tournament last year also he had great performances at other tournaments such as PBC Championship and Bearcat Fall Invitational where he finished fourth and sixth respectively .

Abrahamsson has a co-champion title at Wexford Intercollegiate and fifth place finish at Spring Bulldog Classic with a stroke average of 72.06 strokes per round . He also finished tenth place in PBC Championship which shows how consistent he is throughout his season performances .

McDonald O’Brien has won Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate with an impressive stroke average of 72.18 strokes per round , And third place finish at Cateechee Fall Invitational .
