Texas Rangers Give Out World Series Rings to Current and Former Players in Unique Post-Game Ceremony at Globe Life Field

Three ex-Texas Rangers showcased their World Series rings in Kansas City.

The Texas Rangers distributed the majority of their 2023 World Series rings in a pre-game ceremony at Globe Life Field during the season’s second game. The ceremony included current players from last year’s team, but some players had moved on. Major League Baseball’s new schedule, where every team plays each other at least once in a season, allowed the Rangers to give rings to those former players when they faced their new teams.

For example, Mitch Garver of the Seattle Mariners received his ring during a ceremony at a recent homestand, and three Kansas City Royals – Cole Ragans, Chris Stratton, and Will Smith – were presented with their rings in a game against the Rangers in Kansas City. Cole Ragans wasn’t with the Rangers for the World Series win, but he played the first three months of the season with them before being traded for reliever Aroldis Chapman. Chris Stratton was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals last August and became a key piece of the bullpen. Will Smith has the unique distinction of winning World Series rings with three different teams, including the Rangers, Houston Astros in 2022, and Atlanta Braves in 2021.

There are still former Rangers players who have yet to receive their rings, such as Jordan Montgomery, Aroldis Chapman, and Austin Hedges. Despite some players having moved on or left through trades or free agency
