Texas Tech Health El Paso Celebrates Graduation of Healthcare Professionals and Impact on Community

Ceremonies for the latest health care graduates held at TTUHSC

On Saturday, May 4th, Texas Tech Health El Paso will host commencement ceremonies for its newest graduates in the field of health care. The Hunt School of Nursing will celebrate 72 students who have earned their bachelor of science in nursing, while the Francis Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences will honor 29 students who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing biomedical research and sciences.

The Hunt School of Nursing ceremony will take place at the Starlight Event Center at 9:30 a.m., while the Francis Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences ceremony is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. at Texas Tech Health El Paso’s Medical Sciences Building II.

Texas Tech Health El Paso is recognized for its innovative education and its efforts to address the nursing shortage in the Borderplex region. Approximately 90% of nursing school graduates choose to stay and practice within the region after completing their education, contributing significantly to the community. The yearly economic impact of Texas Tech Health El Paso is $634 million, highlighting its importance as a transformative entity.

The Hunt School of Nursing ceremony, taking place just before National Nurses Week, will celebrate these nurses who have earned their B.S.N., Dean Stephanie L. Woods, Ph.D., R.N., will deliver the keynote address, and El Paso native and Board of Regents member Pat Gordon will provide remarks. The school offers an accelerated program where students can earn a BSN in just 16 months, graduating 1,347 nurses since 2012.
