John Alfred Tinniswood, a 111-year-old British man from Liverpool, has been officially recognized as the world’s oldest man by Guinness World Records. This title was previously held by Juan Vicente Pérez Mora from Venezuela, who passed away just before his 115th birthday. Another contender for the title, Gisaburo Sonobe from Japan, was confirmed to have died at the age of 112.

Tinniswood, who was born in 1912, has lived through significant historical events such as World War I and World War II, during which he served in the British Army Pay Corps. He attributes his long life to a combination of luck, regular exercise, and a weekly tradition of fish and chips.

Having a moderate approach to life, Tinniswood avoids smoking and excessive drinking, maintaining a healthy lifestyle without following any specific diet. According to him, living a long life is ultimately a matter of luck, and there’s only so much one can control.
