New Angels manager Ron Washington holds team meeting after only 2 games to stress importance of staying focused

The Los Angeles Angels’ 2024 season has not gotten off to a great start, with back-to-back blowout losses marking the beginning of their struggles. In response to their 13-4 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday, new manager Ron Washington called an emergency team meeting to address the situation. Despite this being unusual for a team meeting, it was necessary given the rough start that had put the Angels in disarray.

In their season opener against the Orioles, the Angels suffered an 11-3 loss before dropping Saturday’s game by nine runs. The team struggled to contain the Orioles offense and found themselves giving up nine runs in the sixth inning without recording an out. This set a new franchise record for the Angels, with 24 runs allowed through two games. However, despite their struggles, catcher Logan O’Hoppe reminded his team that there were still 160 games left in the regular season and that they should not panic yet.
