The Mavericks and Stars: A Unique Bond of Rivalry and Hope for a Playoff Triumph

The Thrilling Playoff Runs of the Mavericks and Stars – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

The Mavericks and Stars are two of the most beloved sports teams in Dallas. However, they have not won a playoff series together in nearly 20 years. This season, the Mavericks finished fifth in the Western Conference, while the Stars claimed first place and will face off against either the Kings or Golden Knights in Round 1.

Despite their differences, both teams share a special bond with their fans. One of those fans is Chris Arnold, who serves as the Mavericks’ game night emcee at American Airlines Center and hosts 105.3 The Fan’s Spits and Suds podcast. Along with Gavin Spittle, the brand manager at 105.3 The Fan and host of Texas Wants to Know, Arnold recently shared his thoughts on whether both teams could make it past the first round this year.

“It would be incredible if both teams were able to pull off an upset,” said Arnold. “The Mavericks have some solid players on their team, but they’ve been struggling lately. On the other hand, the Stars are one of the best teams in the league right now.”

Spittle agreed that it would be a tough matchup for both teams. “The Mavericks have had some tough games this season,” he said. “But with Luka Doncic leading them and all their great talent on defense, I think they can do well.”

Arnold added that he was impressed by how far both teams have come since last winning playoff series together. “They’ve come such a long way since 2003,” he said. “And it would be amazing to see them win again together.”
